I think Shakespeare’s quote “There
is nothing good or bad, but thinking makes it so” means If you think something
is good that it is good and if you something is bad then it is bad. Like if you
believe something is going to be good it will be good because you are telling
yourself what to expect. The same if you believe something is going to be bad
it will be bad because you already told yourself what it was going to be like.
That you should wait for something to happen and not decide before it happens
weather it will be good or bad but wait and let happen. I think another quote
that can go with this one is from Dweck “By motivation, I mean not only the desire to achieve but also the love of
learning, the love of challenge, and the ability to thrive on obstacles.”
Because when we start to think in good or bad we have to see that when we are
doing something or learning that there will be obstacles in our way that we
will have to get past. I know that this is very much a Growth mindset way of
thinking about it. I think that in Shakespeare
he would have had more or a fixed mindset because when you think what you are
doing will either be good or bad you made the decision of how it will be before
you do it. That will make how what you are doing come out good or bad. Like
extrinsic motivation make people do a worse job because they are doing it for a
reward because they already know what will be at the end. It is better to do
things with intrinsic motivation because you are doing you best for yourself
not what will happen.
